Sadaqah Jariyah means ongoing charity and is a recurring reward which is based upon good actions or deeds. Sadaqah in Arabic means ‘charity’ followed by Jariyah which means ‘ongoing’. In the Quran, Allah describes this beautifully:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain of corn that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies ˹the reward even more˺ to whoever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.” (Qur’an 2:261)"

Sadaqah Jariyah is a powerful form of continuous charity that helps build a sustainable society and supports vulnerable communities for the long term. Its impact does not end with a single donation. Instead, it continues to benefit people for years to come.
As taught in Islam, when a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: continuous charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them. Sadaqah Jariyah is that ongoing reward, creating lasting impact even after death.
At Al Mustafa Canada, we focus on practical Sadaqah Jariyah projects that provide immediate assistance while delivering sustainable, long term solutions for communities in need.
Your Sadaqah Jariyah donation through Al Mustafa Canada can:
Provide clean water by building water wells and community water systems
Support Hafiz sponsorship and Islamic education
Help build and maintain mosques and madrasahs
Restore sight through cataract surgeries that give years of benefit
Each project is designed to deliver immediate relief while creating sustainable impact and ongoing reward for your akhirah.
Most of our Sadaqah Jariyah Projects are Zakat applicable so you can fulfil your religious obligation and earn the endless rewards of Sadaqah Jariyah at the same time. We especially take pride in our 100% Zakat Policy. It means that every single penny of your Zakat donation will go directly to those who need it most 100% of the time – giving you 100% of the reward.
One of the most impactful Sadaqah Jariyah projects is to provide a Water Well. Through Al Mustafa’s water work, this usually means small water wells/hand pumps, deep community wells, and other water solutions for rural and remote areas where people struggle daily for safe water, such as parts of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Africa. Around the world, we have built over 15,600 small water wells and more than 460 community water wells, helping families and entire villages access water close to home.
Prophet Muhammad (saw) described water as being the best charity to give. Clean water helps to save lives and break cycles of poverty. It means women and children do not have to walk for miles each day collecting water, and can instead go to school, work and look after themselves. It provides a great relief to those struggling without water, helping to improve all spheres of life. Water wells are not short term projects that provide immediate relief, but rather something that continues to benefit communities for years and generations to come. Donate Sadaqah Jariyah today.
Constructing a mosque with your Sadaqah Jariyah helps provide a vulnerable community with a safe, permanent mosque to pray to the community- particularly in villages and underserving regions whereby individuals might be praying in the open or on unsecured premises. Al Mustafa Welfare Trust is grateful for being able to construct over 110 mosques all over the world through its long-term Sadaqah Jariyah work, and your Sadaqah Jariyah donation.
Many impoverished communities do not have a masjid that is suitable for their needs. Many are relying on make-shift shelters, or using outside spaces such as underneath trees or roadsides for congregational prayers. Masajid are the heart of Muslim communities, bringing together people for worship and in sorrow and joy. They provide educational spaces for children, helping to grow faith and community for children and young people. Masjids help people stay connected to their faith and to Allah (swt).
Building mosques is one of the best Sadaqah Jariyah projects because a masjid is used every single day: five daily prayers, Jumu‘ah, Ramadan and taraweeh, Eid gatherings, nikah and janazah, Qur’an classes, and youth halaqahs. Prophet Muhammad (saw) told us that Allah will build a house in Jannah for those who build a mosque in this world.
When you sponsor a hafiz, you are not only supporting a child to memorise the Qur'an but are also getting him or her care and education that safeguards their future. It is a form of ongoing charity, as the children are given a safe space to live and study, the chance to become a Hafiz, access to excellent Islamic education, a mainstream education, food and healthcare. In short, they are given everything they need to thrive.
With every word of the Qur'an that these children read, memorize or recite will bring you countless rewards, bringing blessings even after death. It is a form of ongoing charity, as the children will continue to benefit from the sponsorship, as they forge their futures, away from the clasps of poverty. As we help more children to build a brighter future with employment and education, we help them to escape cycles of poverty.
Sadaqah Jariyah is a beautiful, ongoing charity. Sadaqah Jariyah projects continue to benefit the recipients for a long time, giving continuous, ongoing reward to those who have donated.
Sadaqah Jariyah is not only an act of faith but an act of philanthropy; it is about supporting those less fortunate through continuous charitable contributions (also known as Sadaqah). Though one of the most common forms of Sadaqah is the giving of regular charity donations, Sadaqah Jariyah gifts aren't always monetary. Anything that can have an impact and be beneficial to others is welcome; this can include the giving of religious texts or materials, along with knowledge, skills or time spent fundraising for an altruistic cause.
The purpose of Sadaqah is to make a difference and help those less fortunate than ourselves. We give Sadaqah with the goal of benefiting the poor. In every aspect of Islam, we are taught to support one another and help our less fortunate brothers and sisters through whatever struggles they are experiencing. Sadaqah Jariyah is an extension of this, encouraging us to spread our generosity and become closer to Allah (SWT) in the process.
Unlike giving Zakat, Sadaqah is not compulsory. Muslims are free to give Sadaqah Jariyah gifts whenever they please, with no restrictions on the level of their financial contribution. Through
Sadaqah is any voluntary charitable act (food, money, helping others, etc). Sadaqah Jariyah is ongoing charity that continues to benefit others such as water wells, mosques, schools or Hafiz sponsorship. The Prophet ﷺ explained that, the actions of an individual cease when he or she passes away unless it is in the form of charity, useful knowledge and a righteous child who praises him or her- this is the main difference.
Yes. Many people choose to offer Sadaqah Jariyah in remembrance of late parents or family members in order to have it as an ongoing reward. They can have any long-term project, water wells, Hafiz sponsorship, construction of a mosque and others, gifted in their name.
Impactful Sadaqah Jariyah programmes include water wells and other sustainable water projects, sponsoring a Hafiz, building mosques, and eye care.
