Al Mustafa Canada and the Pakistani Community Centre run a community food bank in Mississauga that operates all year round. No barriers. No questions. No appointments needed. We prepare assembled food parcels containing staples, fresh produce, and culturally appropriate items, and we hand them to anyone who walks through our door.
There are no strings attached for charity here. It's respectful, on-the-spot assistance to community members in need. All across the country, families are missing meals, single parents are foregoing nutrition for their children, and single adults are doing everything possible to stretch the available groceries as far as possible. The number of food-insecure individuals in our country is higher than most would imagine and the need is increasing.
Our vision goes beyond emergency meals. We want to build real connections between neighbours, turn acts of giving into something communal, and address the root causes of hunger in our communities. Every food parcel we distribute strengthens the network of people looking out for each other.

Getting a food parcel from the Al Mustafa Community Food Bank is simple. You visit us during operating hours. You tell us about any dietary requirements. We do our best to accommodate your needs.
Most of our parcels contain tins of fish, veg, fruit, chickpeas, tomatoes, beans, soup, baked beans, pasta sauce, tea, sugar, cereal, pot noodles, rice, flour, long-life milk, lentils, and (when possible) milk/yoghurts. The exact contents are based on what we have in stock. If there is something from this list you'd like to ask for, it depends on whether we have it in stock this week.
The food bank operates from 205 N Service Rd, Mississauga, ON L5A 1A4.
* Hours of Operation:
• Friday - Sunday: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Every single dollarthat is donated towards the community food bank goes towards procuring groceries, fresh foods and necessary supplies to assist food-insecure families. A C$50 donation to our food bank will provide one family with a week's worth of groceries-7 days of food for a household.
This program requires year-round funding to ensure that our food shelves are adequately stocked. As a food bank, we notice an increase in demand throughout the month of Ramadan as many additional families seek assistance from our service. The Ramadan food drive program guarantees that no one within our community goes without the nourishment needed to break their fast. After Ramadan, the poverty remains as do the food-insecure families; poverty does not run on a calendar. It occurs every single month of the year, and we are always available to cater to these needs.
Al Mustafa Canada implements a 100% donation policy for this program. Your money is going toward purchasing food. It is not being allocated to any administrative or overhead costs.
Donating money is the most direct way to help, and it gives us the flexibility to buy exactly what families need. But there are other ways to get involved.
Volunteer your time. Our food bank runs on the energy of community members who show up, sort parcels, stock shelves, and serve clients face to face. Whether you can give a few hours on a Friday or commit to a regular schedule, we need you. Students, families, and individuals of all ages are welcome.
Donate food supplies. Non-perishable items like rice, flour, lentils, canned goods, cooking oil, sugar, tea, and cereal make an immediate difference. Drop them off at our Mississauga location during operating hours.
Spread the word. Talk about the food bank in your community. Share our mission on social media. Tell a neighbour who might be struggling. Sometimes the biggest barrier to accessing healthy food is simply not knowing that help exists. One conversation can lead a family to our door.
Partner with us. Local businesses, non-profit organizations, mosques and schools can partner with Al Mustafa Canada to conduct food drives, raise money or campaign for better access to food in the community. Please feel free to contact us to find out how we can work together.
Every effort counts. Whether you donate, volunteer, cook, or simply tell someone about us, you play a part in building a community where nobody goes hungry.
